Trade Unions to observe Aug. 9 as ‘Save India Day’

August 5, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: To coincide with ‘Quit India’ day, National Platform of Central Trade Unions along with Sectoral Federations and Associations have decided to observe August 9 as “Save India Day”.

As prelude to it, a publicity jatha was launched near Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park in Ashokapuram in city yesterday and it was inaugurated by CPI(M) District Secretary K. Basavaraj. The protest rally will be held nationwide on August 9.

Speaking on the occasion, he said while East India Company plundered the nation’s wealth during pre-independence period, hundreds of companies of native and foreign have now taken agriculture and services sectors into their control. To aid this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was passing new legislations. This has caused hardship for the working classes.

On August 9, protest will be staged in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office and Zilla Panchayat (ZP) office in city and in front of all Taluk Offices.

CITU District President Balajirao and others were present.
