Sir,
The number of electric two-wheelers on the road is increasing, and such vehicles are posing new challenges to other road-users in terms of road safety.
Traffic violations like stopping on zebra lines, signal jumping, wrong parking, using mobile while riding, etc., by these electric two-wheelers are also being noticed frequently in city.
Most of these riders do not wear the helmet. It is not clear whether the riders of electric two-wheelers know about road safety and traffic rules or not. As there is no registration number for these vehicles, the riders of these vehicles are easily being escaped from penalisation.
In the absence of penalisation, they are jumping the red signal when they are in the front row and moving before appearing of green light and by seeing their action, other vehicles, especially non-electric two-wheelers, are also jumping the signal, without thinking that it is a violation and they can be caught by CCTV cameras. Such actions are risky for themselves and for vehicles coming from another side of the road.
As electric two-wheeler riders and pillion are not wearing the helmet, it is riskier for them, in the event of an accident. Hence, even electric two-wheeler riders need to follow all road safety rules to avoid road accidents for themselves and other road users.
