Sir,
I am certain the authorities are aware of the inconvenience faced by passengers arriving by train at Mysuru Junction, especially those exiting on CFTRI side gate to avail prepaid auto services. Several evening trains arrive at Platforms 4, 5 or 6, which are closer to this side of station.
A few years ago, a prepaid auto kiosk was inaugurated with much fanfare and functioned efficiently for some time. However, it is now non-operational, leaving passengers stranded.
With no system in place, commuters are forced to negotiate with auto drivers who charge exorbitant fares, exploiting factors like weather conditions and passengers’ urgency. At times, it takes over an hour after arrival to secure an auto.
The growing trend of online pre-booking has further reduced the availability of autos for immediate hire. Once passengers choose to exit on CFTRI side, it becomes extremely cumbersome to carry luggage all the way back to main entrance for prepaid services. This is a daily ordeal for countless train travellers. I urge the departments concerned to collaborate and resolve this issue promptly, ensuring the prepaid auto system is restored for the convenience and fairness of all passengers.
