Training for DLSA Panel Advocates

July 31, 2019

Mysuru: A two-day training programme for newly-selected Panel Advocates of Mysuru District, organised jointly by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Mysuru Bar Association, was inaugurated at the meeting hall of the new Court Complex in Jayanagar here yesterday.

Totally, 119 Panel Advocates are participating in the programme who are being groomed by Resource Persons.

Inaugurating the programme by watering a sapling, Principal District and Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman S.K. Vantigodi asked the participating advocates to make full use of the training. He asserted that DLSA offers free legal service to deserving and eligible clients. However, he said that a complaint has been received where a client was charged an illegal fee for the service rendered and it was sorted out later. He asked the Panel Advocates to follow professional ethics and help to hold the judiciary in high esteem.

Addressing the participants, DLSA Member-Secretary B.P. Devamane asked the advocates to give preference to SC/ST, women and the working class and added that DLSA has extended free legal service to clients whose annual income is less than Rs. 3 lakh. He said that legal profession is always a respected one and asked the panel advocates to carry on the trust.

Bar Association President S. Anand Kumar presided.

Advocates M.S. Savithri Ayesha Banu, Aiyanna, K.R. Shivashankar and Nagesh officiated as Resource Persons.
