Training for Urdu teachers and Research Scholars at CIIL

Mysuru:  A  five-day training-cum-workshop on  Testing & Evaluation and Item writing for Urdu teachers of South India, began at National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, on Mar. 19.

Prof. P.R. Dharmesh Fernandez, Deputy Director, CIIL and Head, Centre for Testing  and Evaluation, in his inaugural address, emphasised on the importance of practice in item writing in understanding the concept of testing and evaluation.

He added that the benefits gained by the teachers during this programme shall be passed on to the students by making appropriate changes in classroom  activities.

Prof.  Fernandez  said that educational  agencies like NCERT/SCERTs  and UGC employ the teachers who are good at item writing.

Pankaj  Dwivedi, Officer  In-charge of NTS-I,  briefed about the objectives  of the workshop.

Dr.  G.M. Ansari  and Dr. Md. Saleem  (both NTS-I Junior Resource  Persons-Urdu) welcomed and proposed a vote of thanks respectively.

Prof. Rafathunnisa Begum, faculty of Urdu, University of Mysore and Abdur Rahman Khan, former Principal, DIET, Mysuru and NTS-I faculties — Dr. V. Ilangovan, Dr. Biresh Kumar, Dr.  G.M. Ansari, Dr. Md. Saleem, Dr. R. Shakunthala and Dr. Sanjay Prasad Srivastava will train the participants in various sessions of the workshop. Dr. G.M. Ansari  and Dr. Md. Saleem are coordinating the workshop. Prof. D. G. Rao, Director, CIIL, Mysuru is overall patron of the workshop.

Thirty two Assistant Professors and Research Scholars from various Universities and Government First Grade Colleges of Southern States of India who are engaged in teaching and research of Urdu are participating in this training workshop which concludes tomorrow.
