Travel operators appeal Tourism Minister to waive off Quarterly Tax for Tourist vehicles

March 14, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Following a sharp fall in business due to Coronavirus scare, travel operators have appealed Tourism Minister C.T. Ravi to waive off quarterly tax for tourist vehicles.

In a letter addressed to the Tourism Minister, Mysuru Travels Association said that there has been  a drastic downfall in travel business due to COVID-19.

Pointing out that there is a lot of cancellation of confirmed bookings, the Association said that it has become very difficult to run travel business, with restrictions from the Government for tourists arriving in the city from other countries.

Noting that their income has fell sharply due to very low business, the Association appealed C.T. Ravi to waive off quarterly tax on tourist vehicles and also provide a three-month grace period for vehicle owners to pay Bank EMI.
