Two-day Natl. Conference held at Amrita

Mysuru, – “The world is involved in creating wealth using knowledge and India is way behind in making products and lagging in developing processes. However, the country is leading in providing service,” observed Prof. Chidananda Gowda, former VC of Kuvempu University.

He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day national conference on ‘Structural, Institutional and Financial Sector Changes (both Global and Indian) in the New Millennium and the Road Ahead’ at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in city on Apr. 7. The conference was organised by the Department of Management and Commerce.

Quoting Arnold Toynbee, he said transportation and communication would create a single planetary position leading to unification of the world.

DCP N. Rudramuni, who was the guest of honour, noted the significance of knowledge and the use of technology in globalisation and stated that Karnataka Police stood first in  the country for effectively using IT infrastructure.

Keynote speaker Dr. Yashavanth Dongre, Professor, Department of Commerce, PG Centre, Hassan, Mysore University, traced India’s leading role in earlier globalisation. “The first wave of globalisation was from east to west. The second was from west to east and the current is multi-directional,” he opined.

The conference was attended by students, researchers, academicians and professionals. 122 papers were presented at four parallel sessions – Economics, Management, Finance & Taxation and IT. Selected papers on digitalisation, demonetisation, knowledge economy, GST, data-informatics, changing role of print media, will be published in International Journal of Applied Business and Economic Research, International Theory of Control Theory and Applications, and IOSR Journal of Economics and Finance.

Amrita Mysuru campus Principal Prof. C. Vidya Pai welcomed. Br. Sunil Dharmapal, Director, Br. Venugopal, Correspondent, and Dr. K. Sailatha, Chairperson, Department of Management and Commerce were present.
