Two-day Natl. Senior Citizens Conference from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: All India Senior Citizens Confederation (AISCCON) and Karnataka State Senior Citizens Association, Belagavi, have jointly organised a two-day 20th National Conference – AISCCON  at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road here on Nov. 16 and 17.

Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will inaugurate the meet tomorrow at 10 am. Dr. Ravi Patil of Vijaya Health Institutions, Belagavi, will be the chief guest while AISCCON President Principal Vishwasrao Bhadane will preside. Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra, Department of Kannada and  Culture Assistant Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan, Star of Mysore Founder-Editor K.B. Ganapathy and  District Disabled Welfare Officer R. Malini will be the special invitees. AISCCON Secretary-General  Shrihari Shidhaye, Conference Organising Chairman N. Obaiah, Karnataka State Senior Citizens Association, Belagavi, President A.Y. Bendigeri and AISCCON Vice-President Mallappa S. Mudakavi will be the guests.

Technical Sessions on Nov. 16: 12.10 pm to 1.30 pm – Session on ‘Status of Rural Senior Citizen,’ Chairman – Dr. Manisingh Jagtap. Tahalu Sahu will speak on ‘Concerns of Rural Senior Citizens,’ Kamala Barule on ‘Housing and Elder Care Homes for Rural Elderly,’ Arun Rode on ‘Government Policies and Programmes for Welfare of Rural Elderly’.

2.30 pm to 3.30 pm: Session on ‘Contribution of Local Bodies/Municipal Corporation to Elder Care Networking and Cooperation of Senior Citizens and Resident Welfare Association for the Welfare of the Elderly and Jeevan Gaurav Abhiyan,’  Chairman – Dr. Sulbha Kuwar. KNK Namboodiri will speak on ‘Contribution of Local Bodies to Elder Care’ and  Vijay Deshmukh Dabadgaonkar on ‘Jeevan Gaurav Abhiyan for Elders’.

3.30 pm to 4.30 pm: Session on ‘Digital World Around – How seniors can benefit,’ Chairman – TPR Unny. Dr. Pavithra Reddy will speak on ‘Multiple Services for Senior Citizens,’  Avinash Lakare and  Dr. Balakrishna Gowda, Chief Ortho, BGS Apollo Hospital, on ‘Case Studies – FDA in Maharashtra.’

On Nov. 17: 9 am to 10.30 am – Session on ‘Emerging Trends in Healthcare for Seniors,’ Chairperson – Dr. Sobha Perindevi. Dr. Pratibha, Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi, Dr. Maya Kulkarni, Dr. Milind Sardar,  Dr. Prajna Amruth and Justice Hegde N. Santosh will speak.

11.30 am to 12 pm: Session on ‘Amendment and Implementation of MWPSCA,’ Chairman – V. Narayana Murthy.  P. Veerabhadrappa and Haneefa Rawther – speakers.

12 pm to 1 pm: Session on ‘CSR and Elder Care,’ Chairman – Sarvesh Gupta. M.K. Raina, Madhusudhan Kulkarni and Suresh Palgay will speak on ‘Indifference towards elderly and causes.’

An awards ceremony will be  held at 5 pm on Nov. 16 which will be followed by cultural programmes at 7 pm.
