Two-day Veena recital and award ceremony

Mysuru: A two-day Veena recital Mysuru Veena Parampare and Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Birth Centenary Memorial Award ceremony will be held on Aug.27 and 28 at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavan, Kuvempunagar, in city.

Dr. Guido Zanderigo, Director of Venician Academy for Indian Studies, Italy, will inaugurate. Dr. S. Ramakrishna Pisipaty, Dean, Sanskrit and Indian Culture of Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya (SCSVM) University, Kanchi, will be the chief guest.

Dr. G.K. Ashwath Harithas, Bharatanatyam artist, Bengaluru, will be the guest of honour. Dr. R.S. Nandakumar, Musician and Scholar, will preside. Dr. R. Sathyanarayana, Musicologist, will be present.

On Aug.27, 5.30 pm: Veena concert by Karnataka Kalasri Vid. D. Balakrishna and Vid. Srinivasa Prasanna accompanied by Vid. Nikshit T. Puttur on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on ghata; 6.15 pm: JC Wadiyar Memorial Award will be presented to Dr. Guido Zanderigo,  Dr. Ramakrishna Pisipaty and Dr. M.G.R. Urs by Brahmavidya and Urs Community.

Aug.28, 6 pm:  Veena concert by Vidu. S.V. Sahana and Vid. Modakaram Prashanth Iyengar accompanied by Vid. G.S. Ramanujam on mridanga and Vid. M.R. Manjunath on ghata.

The event is organised by Veena Vid. T.V. Narasimhan with Grant-in-Aid from Ministry of Culture.
