Two extortionists held

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate incidents, the City Police have arrested two individuals for suspected extortion in different locations within the city. During the arrests, the Police recovered two mobile phones valued at Rs. 44,000 and Rs. 2,000 in cash.

A complaint was registered at Nazarbad Police Station regarding a theft involving a couple who were riding a two-wheeler on the Bengaluru-Nilgiri Road on May 11. It was reported that two individuals on a motorcycle had snatched a mobile phone and a purse containing cash from the complainant’s wife.

Acting on the complaint, Nazarbad Police arrested the duo on May 12. Following interrogation, the pair admitted to another alleged extortion incident within the jurisdiction of Lakshmipuram Police Station. Nazarbad Inspector K. Santhosh, Sub-Inspectors Vaishali A. Biradar and Srinivas Patil and staff Satish Kumar, Kiran Rathod, Santhosh Kumar and Kumar of technical division carried out the investigation with the guidance of senior officers.
