Two from Mysuru among 31 State-level Best Teacher Awardees

Mysore/Mysuru: The State Government on Friday announced the list of 31 teachers who have been selected for the State-level Best Teacher Award (2021-22).

While 20 teachers are from Primary  School section, 11 others, who also include a differently abled teacher, are from High School section. The female teachers, who have bagged the award, will be honoured with  Maate Savitribai Phule award. 

The award carries a cash prize of Rs.10,000 each. Also, the Government will give Rs.50,000  as development fund to  Schools that the award winning teachers belong to. 

Two of the 31 teachers belong to Mysuru while one teacher each from neighbouring Mandya, Chamarajangar and Kodagu districts have bagged the award. 

Mahadeva, a teacher of M.C. Hundi (Muduki Chikkana Hundi) Government Higher Primary School  coming under Keelanapura cluster in Varuna Hobli of Mysuru taluk and K. Sangeetha, an art teacher with  Government High School at G.B. Saragur in H.D. Kote taluk are the winners from Mysuru district. The other winners include  Science teacher D. Gopalaswamy of Ikkadahalli Government Higher Primary School in Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district, Swamy, Headmaster of Government Higher Primary School, Alakere in Mandya district and Sadashivaiah S. Palled of Government High School, Kushalnagar, Kodagu district. 

Mahadeva has been serving as a teacher for the past 22 years. He has got the award for providing text books, clothes and stationeries for children out of the funds received by donors at all the schools where he had served. Also he used to visit villages during holidays and engage the children in learning and other useful activities.

Sangeetha is credited for having tutored children in winning prizes at various levels in art and craft. She is also recognised for her excellent work in making the children develop interest and  learn skills in drawing, painting and other art.
