Two girls drown at Yedamuri

Mandya/ Srirangapatna: Two girls, employees of a private company in Mysuru, who had come on a trip to Yedamuri in Srirangapatna taluk, were drowned while another girl has been admitted to a hospital. The incident took place last evening.

The deceased girls are Pratima (22), a resident of Bannur and Divyashree (24) of Malavalli, while the girl who has been admitted to a hospital is Geetha.

About 50 employees of the private company had come on a trip to Yedamuri and at about 5 pm, while they were playing in the waters, Pratima began to drown and Divyashree and Geetha, who rushed to her rescue, also began to drown. Their colleagues, who saw them drowning, rushed to their rescue and brought them to the river bank, but Pratima was already dead and Divyashree and Geetha were in serious condition. 

Though Divyashree was rushed to a hospital, she breathed her last there. Geetha is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mysuru and is out of danger. KRS Police have registered a case.
