Two held for poaching

Kushalnagar: The Forest Department staff have arrested two persons for hunting a deer at Jenukollu Betta Reserve Forest in Somwarpet Range on Thursday and have recovered deer pelt and meat besides seizing two single barrel guns from them.

Those arrested are Kaverappa alias Thammu and M.T. Harish of Hosahalli village in the taluk. Four more accused  — D.E. Praveen, K.R. Krishnappa, Preethu alias Premnath and Monis alias Moni — have gone absconding and efforts are being made to nab them.

A case has been registered under Wildlife Protection Act against the accused.

Somwarpet Sub-Division Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Nehru guided Range Forest Officer (RFO) Shama and Hebbale Sub-Division RFO M.K. Bharat and staff M.K. Manu, Rajanna, Bheemanna, Lokesh, Rajappa, Diwakar, Dixit, Harshit and Rakshit in the operation.
