Mysuru: In separate cases, house burglars, who struck two locked houses on Irwin Road and in J.P. Nagar, have decamped with cash, gold ornaments and silver articles worth lakhs of rupees.

In the first case, burglars, who gained entry into the locked house of one Vijayraj, on Irwin Road 3rd Cross, in the heart of the city, have decamped with a gold chain worth about Rs.30,000, a pair of gold earrings and studs worth about Rs.40,000, a pair of silver anklet worth about Rs.40,000, a silver bar worth Rs.42,000 and Rs.16.11 lakh cash kept in the almirah.

Vijayraj, who owns a cell phone shop, had locked his house located on the second floor, on Sunday morning and had gone out. The theft came to light when Vijayraj returned home at about 4 pm and opened the front door of the house and entered inside only find the cash and other valuables stolen and immediately informed Mandi Police.

The burglars are said to have gained entry through the balcony that leads to the kitchen and forcibly opened the kitchen door before escaping with the booty.

A case has been registered at Mandi Police Station.

In the second case, burglars have decamped with cash and gold ornaments from the house of Chandrashekar, a retired Excise Inspector at J.P. Nagar in city. The burglars are said to have decamped with gold ornaments weighing about 60 grams and Rs.60,000 cash from the house.

It is learnt that Chandrashekar had gone to Bengaluru along with his family members when the theft took place. The burglars are said to have gained entry into the house by cutting open the window grills. A case has been registered at Vidyaranyapuram Police Station.
