Two killed as tipper hits bike

Chamarajanagar: A rider and his pillion were killed on the spot, when a tipper hit their bike from behind and ran over them near Siddartha Theatre on Sathy Road here yesterday afternoon.

The deceased are Manikanta (24), son of late Doddashetty of Byadamodlu village and his friend Nataraju (24), son of Sakashetty of Honganur village in the taluk.

Manikanta and Nataraju were proceeding on the bike from Chamarajanagar towards Somwarpet and when they neared Siddartha Theatre, a tipper vehicle (KA-28-C-3488), which came from behind, hit the bike and ran over them, killing the two on the spot. The tipper driver is said to have fled from the spot soon after the accident leaving the vehicle behind. Chamarajanagar Traffic Police, who have registered a case, are on a lookout for the absconding tipper driver.
