Two killed, one injured as bike rams into electric pole

Mysuru: Two youths were killed on the spot while another sustained serious injuries when the bike on which they were triple riding, skidded and rammed into a roadside electric pole on Manadawadi Road here last night.

While the deceased have been identified as Rajesh (28), son of Kapanigowda and Nandan (20), son of late Srinivas, the seriously injured identified as Abhishek Kumar (20), son of Siddappa, is battling for his life at a private hospital in city.

It is learnt that Nandan, who is pursuing a diploma course in city, was a native of Shivamogga district and staying in Mahadevapura here. His father, late Srinivas too had died in a road accident about six months ago.

The three were on their way from Mahadevapura to Mysuru and were triple riding without wearing helmets on a Pulsar bike (KA-09-HK-7079) with Rajesh riding the bike and Nandan and Abhishek riding pillion.

At about 9 pm, when they approached a curve near Ashwini Kalyana Mantap on Manandawadi Road, the bike skidded and rammed into an electric pole on the left side of the road, killing Rajesh and Nandan on the spot and leaving Abhishek with serious injuries.

KR Traffic Inspector Nagegowda and staff, who rushed to the spot, shifted the injured to a private hospital in Kuvempunagar and the bodies to MMC&RI mortuary and conducted mahazar before registering a case.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Abhishek Kumar who suffered severe head injuries, is undergoing treatment in an ICU and is put on a ventilator.
