Mandya: A 30 year-old man from Mysuru and a youth from Mandya were reportedly drowned when they went for a swim in a lake at Yelechakanahalli in the taluk yesterday.

The deceased have been identified as Mubarak Pasha (30), son of Maqbul Pasha, a resident of Shanthinagar in Mysuru and Shabbir Ahmed (26), a resident of Beedi Workers Colony in Mandya.

Mubarak and Maqbul, who are construction workers, were undertaking construction of a house belonging to Narayana Swamy at Yelechakanahalli village. Yesterday being a holiday, they went to the lake for a swim and were drowned.

The bodies were fished out yesterday and were shifted to Mandya District Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered at Mandya Rural Police Station.
