Two youths drown in River Kapila

Nanjangud, Jan.1 (RS&DM)- New Year celebrations cost two youths their life, as they met a watery grave in River Kapila at Nanjangud this morning.

A group of three youths from Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, who are said to be Techies, came in a car to Mysuru last night for New Year celebrations.

The youths, all in their twenties and identified as Snehal Ashish, Rajiv and Vinod, came to Nanjangud this morning for having darshan at Srikanteshwara Temple.

Before visiting the temple, they decided to have a bath at Kapila river and entered the waters near Hejjige bridge at about 10.30 am. But minutes later, Snehal Ashish and Rajiv were washed away by strong currents, while Vinod managed to swim to safety. While the body of one of the victims was retrieved, search operation is going on to trace the body of another victim.

Nanjangud Police have registered a case in this regard.
