Periyapatna: Two youths drowned in River Cauvery near Dodda Harave in Periyapatna taluk yesterday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Ganesh (22) and Imran (28), both residents of the town and engaged in tile and painting work.

According to Police, the duo had gone to the river along with two friends for a swim. While in the water, Ganesh and Imran were caught in a sudden current and swept away.

Ganesh’s body has been recovered, while search operations are underway to trace Imran’s body. A case has been registered at Bylakuppe Police Station and investigation is on.
