Two youths meet watery grave

Maddur: Two youths, who had gone to a pond to wash their hands and legs after picking brinjal and tomatoes from the field belonging to Nagaraju, at Atagoru village in the taluk yesterday, were reportedly drowned after slipping into the pond in the field. The deceased have been identified as Chandan (18), son of Nagaraju and Kiran (12), son of Ramesh of Atagoru village.

It is learnt that Chandan and Kiran had gone to the field yesterday evening to pick tomatoes and brinjal and went to the pond to wash their hands and legs during which, Kiran slipped and fell into the pond. Chandan, who tried to rescue Kiran and also fell into the pond and died.

The incident came to light this morning. Kesthur Police, who rushed to the spot, fished out the bodies and shifted them to Maddur Hospital for post-mortem besides registering a case.
