Mysore/Mysuru: City’s Principal District and Sessions Court has sentenced two youths to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 1 lakh each after they were found guilty of murdering a man.
Those sentenced to life are 23-year-old Puneeth and 24-year-old Pavan, residents of Anandur village in Yelwal Police limits.
On July 7, 2017, Puneeth and Pavan, after abusing one Manjunath of the village in front of the shop of one Bettegowda, brutally assaulted Manjunath with machetes. Though Manjunath was admitted to a private hospital in Mysuru, he succumbed to injuries on July 13. A case was registered in this regard and the then investigating officer Abdul Kareem Rawther had submitted a charge sheet to the Court.
Judge Usharani, who took up the case, found the youths guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment besides imposing the fine. Failing to pay the fine, the convicts will have to undergo an additional one-year simple imprisonment and another one year imprisonment under Section 504 of the IPC.
