Ugadi celebrations by Telugu Samskritika Samithi ‘Telugu Koyila Award’ presentation

Mysore/Mysuru: Telugu Samskritika Samithi (TSS), Mysuru, established in 1966, is conducting Ugadi Celebrations – 2023 on account of Telugu New Year Day, Shobhakruth Nama Samvastaram on Mar. 22 at 6 pm at P.D. Reddy Telugu Bhavanam in I-Block, Ramakrishnanagar, Mysuru.

On this occasion, TSS is conducting Panchanga Sravanam, Telugu Quiz, Anthyakshari, Recitation of literary poems, songs and arranging refreshments.

In continuation of Ugadi Celebrations, TSS and Telugu Department, Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) have jointly organised Telugu Mahabharatha Sahasrabdi Utsavam on the occasion of completion of 1000 years of Telugu language in Indian literature.

This event will be held on Mar. 26 at 5.30 pm at Cauvery (Kaveri) Auditorium in KSOU premises. KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharanappa V. Halse will be the chief guest. RIE Mysuru Principal Prof. Y. Sreekanth, KSOU Registrar Prof. KLN Murthy, Dr. RVSS Avadhanulu from Hyderabad and Prof. RVS Sundaram will be the guests of honour.

Prof. M. Ramanatham Naidu, Chairperson, Department of Telugu, KSOU, delivers welcome address. Prof. P.R. Harinath of RIE Mysuru speaks on ‘Dramatisation of Virataparvam’,  E. Sarada Kumari, Kakinada (AP), speaks on ‘Udyogaparvam – Rayabaram’ etc.

The children will recite Mahabharatham poems.

On this occasion, ‘Telugu Koyila Award’ will be presented to Dr. RVSS Avadhanulu, Hyderabad. This award is instituted by TSS and is given to persons who have done excellent work for Telugu motherland and this award is in honour of late Dr. SVS Rao, the Founder-President of TSS and his wife late  Sonti Sreedevi.

Awardee’s Profile: Dr. RVSS Avadhanulu, a Nuclear Physicist and Doctorate in Sanskrit, is an authority in Vedas. He is the man behind digitising Vedas and pioneer in making Telugu as the first Indian Language fed to computers. He founded Shri Veda Bharathi, a charitable organisation, with the sole purpose of preserving Vedas by recording, by extracting the Vedic knowledge of Science and Mathematics embedded in them.

TSS Executive Committee Office-Bearers are P. Krishna Reddy (President), J. Bapuji (Vice-President), DVSN Srinivasa Rao (Secretary), C. Doraswamy Raju (Treasurer), M. Poornachandrarami Reddy and P. Varalakshmi (both Joint Secretaries) and Dr. L. Jaganmohana Rao (Convener, Building Committee).
