Sir,
It has been more than two months since precious drinking water has been flooding near Lakshmipuram Police Station, right opposite the unused and dysfunctional public toilet.
Repeated calls and messages to the authorities have fallen on deaf ears. At one end, we perform the ‘Cauvery Aarti’ and at the other, we allow the seepage of precious water without a care. What an irony!
While street lighting has been taken up as a priority, leaking pipelines have not even been attended to. At a time when the entire world is focusing on conserving water resources, the Mysuru City Corporation seems indifferent to priorities, as the continuous overflow of water is ignored. The bicycle lane has now turned into a water channel.
Is this a budget issue? If so, how did hurried street patching, random digging and lighting works get cleared so easily?
The water is even flowing into the Lakshmipuram Police Station compound, and it would be no surprise if part of it collapses soon.
Meanwhile, garbage and plastic bottles scattered around Yuvaraja’s and Maharaja’s College campus present a pathetic picture. Perhaps, it is time we start a ‘Thyajya Dasara’ (Festival of Waste).
