May 9, 2017

Mysuru: Manju (32), a resident of Siddapura village in K.R. Nagar taluk, who was facing a trial under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act died this morning owing to ill-health.

Sources said he was kept in the jail for the past 10 months as his bail plea was rejected.

It is said that Manju was ill and was unable to even walk or swallow food. In fact, the prison personnel had to carry him to meet his elder sister and brother-in-law. This morning, Manju was treated at the clinic within the jail premises for severe fever. However, he died as treatment failed.

Meanwhile, Sunitha, Manju’s wife, has filed a complaint with the Mandi Police accusing the jail authorities of negligence. Manju is survived by two daughters.
