Unique Display of Chain Yoga

October 4, 2019

Mysuru:  Hundreds of Yoga enthusiasts participated in Chain Yoga, organised in front of the magnificent Amba Vilas Palace this morning.

After positioning themselves in concentric circles around the centre stage, a large number of students and yoga practitioners displayed mainly four types of asanas namely Tadasana, Trikonasana, Upavistha Konasana and Prasarita Padottanasana. The event was inaugurated by District Minister V. Somanna, MP Pratap Simha and MLA Ramdas by watering a Tulasi sapling.

Speaking on the occasion, Somanna said “Being a Bengalurean, I was not much aware of the grandeur and the rich tradition of Mysuru Dasara, but this year I feel it is my privilege to participate and be a part of such a world class event.”

“Today morning, when we arrived along with these participants, the Palace premises was not clean. I have given strict instructions to authorities to clean the whole area at nights after the completion of cultural programmes every day,” he added.

Speaking to media after the programme, Somanna said “Around 26,000 seats are arranged here for public which we are planning to increase to the maximum. Dasara is not an event for politicians,  it is people’s Dasara. We are also planning to organise a dawn to dusk music programme in which city musicians will be participating in the full day event.”

Somanna along with other elected representatives visited the Palace Gallery, inspected the arrangements and took the authorities concerned to task for not keeping the premises tidy.

MP Pratap Simha said “Mysuru is known as a Yoga Hub in the world. We are planning to organise an event in 2020 to break the Guinness record.”

A large number of yoga enthusiasts including students of Yoga Federation of Mysuru, Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti, GSS Yoga Foundation, Baba Ramdev Swabhiman Trust, Yoga Sports Foundation and other Yoga schools of the city participated in the programme.
