University Men’s PG Hostel inmates stage snap stir

December 23, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: About 50 second year PG students, who are inmates of Mysore University Men’s PG Hostel, alleging that they were not getting food, staged a snap stir under the banner of Dalit Students Federation in front of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu’s statue at the entrance gate of the University this morning.

Stating that there were no bulbs in the hostel, water and the hostel lacks other basic facilities, the protesting students said that despite lodging complaints with the Dean, the problems are not solved and shouted slogans against the officials concerned.

Meanwhile, Mysore University Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa, who came to the spot, heard the grievances of the protesting students and assured them of solving their problems in a week by bringing the same to the notice of the Vice-Chancellor, following which the students withdrew their protest. Federation President Manikantaswamy, Hon. President Pramod Kote, students Kiran, Venkatesh, Jagadish and others were present.
