Mysuru: Students of University of Mysore (UoM) will no longer need to visit Crawford Hall, the administrative block, to obtain essential documents like marks cards, convocation certificates, and more. The University has digitised 28 student-related documents, allowing them to be accessed online. The online initiative aims to reduce paperwork, save time for students and enhance transparency in administration.
This initiative is especially beneficial for students commuting from districts like Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Mysuru, who previously had to travel to the University, often shuttling between the bank and Crawford Hall to pay fees and submit applications. Now, they can apply for documents from the comfort of their homes. “We are yet to officially launch the website in the public domain, but it is expected to go live by the end of this month. This service will significantly help students from distant places,” said Prof. N. Nagaraj, Registrar (Evaluation), UoM.
Earlier, under Sakala scheme, the University ensured document delivery within 20 days of application, with penalties for officials who missed deadlines. However, the system was discontinued after a few months.
With the upcoming online portal, the University is now training staff to handle digital applications efficiently. Once launched, documents are expected to be issued within a week. In urgent cases, students can apply online and collect their documents in person after two days.
