Unmitigated garbage dumping in Hebbal residential area

October 10, 2025

Sir,

Ward No. 1, Hebbal 1st Stage, has turned into a garbage dump, with people indiscriminately throwing household and other waste on the roadside.

The problem is compounded by inefficient garbage clearance by the respective MCC Zone Office and the lack of action against offenders by the authorities concerned.

It has now become a full-fledged nuisance and a serious health hazard for residents, who find the stench and visual pollution unbearable. Soon, even the road itself will be covered with garbage if no action is taken.

This very issue was highlighted earlier in this space (SOM dated Aug. 17, 2025) and brought to the attention of officials at the MCC Zonal Office for necessary action. However, the situation has only deteriorated. Garbage continues to remain uncleared for days and weeks, posing severe health and environmental risks.

Residents using the road — whether by vehicle or on foot — are forced to endure this unhygienic and unsightly mess along with the unbearable odour. Why is this dumping allowed to continue, and is there no effective solution from MCC?

I urge the Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation, to address this urgent issue, preferably through a spot visit along with local officials, to witness first-hand how the problem is worsening by the day.

Is this how we wish to project Mysuru as a ‘clean city,’ once ranked the cleanest in the country?
