Unnecessary formalities at MCC Office

July 23, 2022

Sir,

Recently I visited MCC Office to get Khata of our house changed into my name following my mother’s demise. It was based on a Vibhaga Patra, following a mutual understanding among us siblings. It had been registered at the Sub-Registrar’s Office, which means all the survivors were present at the time of registering.

House documents from Day 1 (Allotment, Registration etc.) had been enclosed. The Family Tree (Vamsha Vriksha) issued by the Tahsildar had also been enclosed in which all the family members’ details were mentioned. But MCC case worker insisted on a copy of Family Survivors Certificate (FSC) which is to be sought once again from the Tahsildar. This FSC is nothing but a near duplicate of Family Tree. I have to make a few visits again to Tahsildar’s Office, pay the stipulated fee and follow it up. Is this exercise necessary? After all, Vibhaga Patra is already registered, which means the bona-fide of survivors in the family has been looked into by the Sub-Registrar. Why this unnecessary insistence of all the records by the MCC then?
