Road works taken up by an agency in Srirampura, Mysuru, have drawn criticism from residents over what they describe as poor execution and safety concerns.

According to residents, one side of the road was dug up for the work and later relaid with fresh asphalt, covering only half the width of the carriageway. This has resulted in a height difference of a few inches between the newly laid stretch and the existing road, raising the risk of skidding, particularly for two-wheeler riders.

Residents also pointed out that a speed hump has been created as part of the work. However, what has drawn sharper criticism is the road marking carried out over the stretch, including on the hump, which they say appears awkward and unscientific.

It remains unclear which wing of the Mysuru City Corporation executed the work. Residents have termed the execution shoddy and questioned the lack of oversight, asking whether taxpayers are entitled to an explanation for the condition of the road.
