Hunt on to trace prime accused

Mysore/Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, on Monday evening, have arrested two students, who are involved in the University of Mysore (UoM) B.Sc Chemistry answer paper racket and have launched a hunt to nab prime accused Mohammed Nisar, who is absconding.

The arrested are Chandan and Chethan. They were interrogated by the investigating team and were produced before a Court yesterday evening. The Court has remanded the two students to judicial custody.

During interrogation, the Cops came to know that Chandan and Chethan were first year B.Sc students and as they were unable to pass the Chemistry subject since two years, they had approached Nisar. Through Nisar, the students prepared fake answer papers, which was to be attached to the original answer papers that were stored in the University. The students had also agreed to pay Nisar only after they pass in that particular subject. The CCB also came to know that all those who were involved in the racket were to get a share in the money.

As soon as Nisar got information about the case being registered, he went absconding and has also switched off his mobile phone. While the Police have spread the dragnet to nab Nisar based on the clue that Nisar was hiding in the outskirts of Bengaluru, the internal committee team of the University of Mysore, led by Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. Jnanaprakash, has issued notices to all the accused to appear before it for enquiry on June 22 besides filing a complaint at the jurisdictional Lakshmipuram       Police Station.
