UoM to host South Zone and All India Inter-Varsity Men’s Kho-Kho tourney

The Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore (UoM), will be conducting the South Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho tournament for men from Jan. 17 to Jan. 20 and the All India tournament for men from Jan. 22 to Jan. 24 at the University grounds here.

A total of 62 University teams from South Zone will be seen in action in the South Zone leg of the tourney which will be played on a knock-out-cum-league basis. Mangalore University, the defending champion, Kuvempu University (runner-up), University of Mysore (3rd place winner) and University of Calicut (fourth place) have been directly seeded into the quarter-finals.

Felicitation

On the occasion of the inaugural and closing functions, the players of the Medal-winning teams who represented University of Mysore in the men’s section and brought laurels, will be felicitated.

Inauguration

The South Zone Kho-Kho tournament will be inaugurated by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha on Jan. 17 at 8.30 am at the University grounds, in the presence of In-charge Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore Prof. C. Basavaraju. D. Bharati, Registrar, University of Mysore, will also be present.

Closing function

The valedictory function of the South Zone tournament will be held on Jan. 20 at 4.30 pm at the University grounds.

Prof. C. Basavaraju will distribute the prizes. M.L. Gopinath, Ekalavya Award winner in kho-kho, will also be one of the guests.

The All-India tournament will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep on Jan. 22 at 8.30 am at the University grounds. The valedictory function will be held on Jan. 24 at 4 pm.
