UoM Library holds workshop on ‘Research methods and research reporting’

Mysuru/Mysore: A workshop on ‘Research methods and research reporting: Tools and techniques’ was inaugurated by Prof. A. Balasubramaian, former Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology under the auspices of University of Mysore (UoM) Library. Speaking on recent trades in research methods, he highlighted the opportunities and challenges in modern scientific research.

In the second session, Dr. V. Manjunath, Faculty, Mahajana First Grade College, gave a lecture on tools and techniques, regarding formulating and testing hypotheses, with examples of applications of statistical methods. 

Dr. C.P. Ramasesh, former University Librarian, spoke about measuring the research performance and dealt in detail about academic integrity and prevention of plagiarism. 

In the fourth session, Dr. P. Sarasvathy, University Librarian, practically accessed various informative websites of e-books, e-journals, e-thesis and online databases which are useful for researchers in covering literature.

In the valedictory session, Prof. D. Anand, Director of BIMS, University of Mysore, addressed about quality research and efforts to be put forth by the researchers. He also emphasised that the research contribution should be beneficial to the society at large.

Prof. N.S. Harinarayana, Director, IQAC, UoM, emphasised on various aspects of h-index, impact factor and originality of research output. He informed the participants to publish their research papers covered by citation indexes — scopus and web of science. Dr. Venkatesh welcomed. A.N. Ramesh proposed a vote of thanks.
