Mysore/Mysuru: KPCC Women’s Wing State President Dr. Pushpa Amarnath has urged the Department of Women and Child Development to hold a special scheme to vaccinate women and children before the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic hits the State.
Talking to reporters here yesterday, she said the Government has utterly failed to manage the second wave of pandemic. Vaccination has come to a standstill across the State due to vaccine short supply. Before recovering from the second wave, experts have warned of the possible third wave that may affect kids. Taking serious note of this, women and children must be vaccinated, she said.
Dr. Pushpa stressed on distributing nutrition food kits to Anganwadi Centres to protect the kids from third wave. The Congress Party had distributed those kits which was sufficient for a month. The Opposition party was doing the job of ruling party. The Government must distribute the food kits that were sufficient for the next three months, she said.
The District Administration had claimed to make Mysuru District Covid-free by July 1 but there has been no decline in Case Positivity Rate and Mortality Rate. Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has gone missing without helping people in distress, she noted.
The Congress leader said a special session of the State Assembly must be convened to discuss the preparations for third wave. Other nations like US, Russia and Europe were vaccinating children but it was yet to begin in India. The rise in prices of fuel and essential commodities has made a common man’s life miserable. The BJP leaders were defending the price hike claiming that it was being done to mop up resources to buy Covid vaccine. In that case, what happened to money collected by the Government in the form of taxes, she questioned.
