The Kannada and Culture Department will be hosting a 2-day ‘Vachana Sangeetotsava’ at Suttur Mutt in the city on Sept.16 and 17. The event is aimed at spreading the philosophies and preachings of 12th century Basavadi Sharanas.

In this backdrop, the Department has organised various contests for students at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road on Sept.10 and 11 at 10.30 am.

The contests will be held under four categories — 5th to 7th  std. (Chitra nimdu banna namdu); 8th to 10th std. (Vachana memorisation), PUC (Vachana Gayana) and Degree students (Essay on ‘Sharanaru katta bayasida samaja’). There will be three prizes in each category. For registration, contact M.K.
