Vani Vilas Water Works stinks !

The stinking stagnant water in the premises of the Vani Vilas Water Works.

Mysuru: There is scare of dengue fever in city, though the Government is consistently denying it. The surrounding of houses should be kept clean without allowing water to stagnate. The Corporation officials and people’s representatives are trying to bring about awareness.

However, it is surprising to see that under the very nose of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), there is fear of spreading of viral diseases. The stinking Water Treatment Plant in the Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) premises on KRS Road is an example of this neglect.

Here, the water is treated and supplied to the city. Septic tanks have been installed for this purpose. It is alleged that the sewage water is getting mixed in the septic tank. The same water is being consumed by Mysureans.

This has led to increase in fever, vomiting, loose motions and the spread of dengue, said a source. In the premises of the Water Treatment Plant, underground drainage system cleaning lorries and vehicles are being parked. The dirty water that is leaking from these vehicles has caused stagnant pool in the premises, which has turned the area into a cesspool. The dirty water is being mixed in the septic tank through broken pipes. The underground cleaning lorries must be parked in the Sewage Farm and in the Kesare Plant. However, since the past 15 days the vehicles are parked in the VVWW premises.

If this situation continues, then Mysuru will soon become a ‘sick’ city, unless the officials concerned take steps to shift the vehicles to the sewage farm and Kesare plant.
