‘Vastra Utsav’ at JSS Urban Haat

Mysuru: “The variety of sarees available from different States in the country under one roof is a treat to the eyes. Even I was tempted to buy a saree,” said SWR Mysuru Division DRM Aparna Garg.

She was addressing the media after inaugurating the ‘Vastra Utsav’ at the JSS Mysore Urban Haat organised as part of Varamahalakshmi festival at its premises in Hebbal, here yesterday. Urban Haat by regularly organising such festivals is not only helping the artisans and craftspersons from different parts of the country to display their products but also the people of Mysuru have a choice to buy the best products quality at affordable prices, she said.

The sarees and dresses on display and sale include Gujarati silk sarees, Vaishnavi silk sarees, kurtas, dupattas, salwar, winter mask, Mulabagal sarees, Jharkand’s Tussar silk, dress materials, West Bengal silk sarees, Madhya Pradesh’s Maheshwari cotton, Chanderi sarees, Kashmir printed sarees, Kalamkari sarees, Kanchi and Ilakal sarees which are available in the 64 stalls put up at the Utsav.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, JSS Technical Education Division Director Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, Project Officer M. Shivananjaswamy, Administrative Officer R. Rahul, JSS Urban Haat Programme Coordinator Rakesh Rai and others were present.

The expo is on from July 26 to Aug.4 from 10 am to 9 pm everyday.
