Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi, Mysuru, has organised two veena concerts titled “Veena Gaana Navollaasa” in memory of Vid. M.J. Srinivas Iyengar (MJS), a veteran veena exponent from city at Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Kuvempunagar, on Feb. 10 and 11 at 6 pm. This event is sponsored by the family members and students of MJS.
Feb. 10: Vid. G. R. S. Murthy from Chennai will present veena recital accompanied by Vid. H.L. Shivashankara Swamy on mridanga and Vid. M.R. Manjunath on ghata.
Feb. 11: Vid. Ananthapadma-nabhan from Tiruvananthapuram will present a veena recital accompanied by Vid. K.U. Jayachandrarao on mridanga and Vid. Ranganatha Chakravarthy on ghata.

Vidwan G.R.S. Murthy had his initial training under his father G.K. Ramachandran. Later, he learnt under Vid. C. Krishnamurthy and was groomed into a performing artiste by Vid. Dandapani at Chennai; learnt vocal music from Vid. S. Rajam.
Vid. Ananthapadmanabhan is known for his unique gayaki style of playing veena. He was a staff artiste of AIR, Trissur and is a recipient of national award for the musical feature Sayujyam.
