Veteran theatre artiste felicitated

Mysuru: Veteran theatre artiste Prof. Rameshwari Varma was felicitated at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), Centre for Women Studies and Samatha Adhyayana Kendra at KIKS in Manasagangothri here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior theatre artiste Dr. N.Ratna said that Prof. Rameshwari Varma always fought for the rights of women.

Pointing out that Prof. Varma was committed to her work, he said she displayed  humanistic approach in her plays.

Dr. Ratna released a felicitation volume titled ‘Antaranga-Anusandhana’, edited by Dr. Chandramathi Sonda and Dr. H.M. Hemalatha on the occasion.

KIKS visiting faculty Prof. C. Naganna, in his address said that Prof. Rameshwari Varma was a multi-faceted personality, who always strived for upholding the dignity of women.

Complimenting the authors for bringing out the felicitation volume, he said that many authors have openly expressed their opinion in the 3-part volume, which sheds light on the dignity of women.

Pointing out that Prof. Rameshwari Varma was known for her revolutionary stance on many occasions, Prof. Naganna said as a multi-talented woman she had made her own mark in theatre, literature, administration, economics, social work etc.

Samruddhi Foundation President Prof. R. Indira, former Maharaja’s College Principal Prof. C. Sarvamangala, writer Dr. Vijaya, KIKS Director Dr. Preethi Sreemandhar Kumar and others                 were present.
