Vid. Manamohan to perform at Alwar Kalabhavan

Mysore/Mysuru: Vid. G.K. Manamohan will present a Karnatak Vocal Concert as part of Gana Visharada Sri Bidaram Krishnappa’s Memorial Music Concert organised by Sri Krishna Ganasabha at Alwar Kalabhavan in Gokulam 3rd Stage tomorrow (Oct. 2) at 6 pm.

He will  be accompanied by Vid. Keshav Mohan Kumar on violin, Vid. Anirudha S. Bhat on mridanga and Vid. S Manjunath on ghata.

Aditya Hospital Managing Trustee Dr. N. Chandrashekar will be the chief guest. Sri Krishna Ganasabha President B.S. Sridharraj Urs will preside.

Artiste’s Profile

At the age of five, Manamohan started learning Karnatak vocal under Vidu. H.N. Rajalakshmi (wife of renowned Violinist Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy) and pursued further under late Vidu. Vasanta Sundararajan and Vidu. Pushpa Srinivasan in Mysuru. He was featured in the music programmes of AIR Mysuru on numerous occasions since the age of seven. He won the first prize at National-level AIR Competition – Devotional category in 2002. He received CCRT National Scholarship (1992-2002) and Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy State Scholarship for Karnatak vocal. He was invited as the guest faculty at Meadows School of Arts – Music, Southern Methodist University – Dallas, during 2006/07. 

He started performing full-fledged Karnatak vocal concerts at the age of thirteen and has performed in many renowned organisations and Sabhas in Karnataka and in the US and has received accolades from music connoisseurs and rasikas. He has composed and directed instrumental ensemble pieces that have been appreciated by a wide range of audiences. 

He has a Bachelor’s degree (BE) in Environmental Engineering and Master’s degree (MS) in Environmental Science – Hazardous & Waste Materials Management. He served at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), as Environment Health & Safety Specialist for UCLA campus) for thirteen years and took an early voluntary retirement in 2020, before relocating back to Mysuru.
