Vid. Prashanth’s concert enthrals music buffs at BVB Mysuru

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnatak Classical Music Concert by Vidwan N.R. Prashanth cast a spell on music connoisseurs at the Monthly Music Programme organised by Kalabharati wing of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra, at its Prof. Y.T. Thathachari auditorium in Vijayanagar First Stage here last evening.

Ganapathe Sugunanidhe…, a Sanskrit song written by H.N. Muthiah Bhagavatar was recited in Janaranjini raga, followed by ‘Om Namo Narayana…,’ a Tamil song of Ambujam Krishna in Karna Ranjani raga, on account of Vaikunta Ekadashi.

Purandara Dasa’s ‘Ninna Nodi Dhanyanadeno Hey Srinivasa… Pakshivahana Lakshmiramana Lakshyavittu Nodo Pandu…’ in Kamavardhini raga turned a perfect ode to Lord Srinivasa.

Vyasaraja’s ‘Olaga Sulabhavo…’ in Bhairavi raga, Bhadrachala Ramadasu’s Telugu song ‘Ramabhadra Ra Ra…’ in Ananda Bhyravi Raga with Adi Tala were among several other compositions that were mellifluously rendered by Vid. Prashanth.

Vid. Prashanth is a resident of Bengaluru, who has worked as Chief Faculty and Registrar at Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), Singapore, from 2001 to 2016, before returning to India. Apart from training several students, Vid. Prashanth has given numerous music concerts. He holds the distinction of presenting over 3,000 concerts, including India and abroad. He is also a recipient of many prestigious awards.

In yesterday’s concert, Vidwan Prashanth was accompanied by Vid. Keshav Mohankumar on violin and Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga.

BVB Mysuru Kendra Secretary P.S. Ganapathy, Member and Programme Convener Vidushi Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra, Administrative Officer S.R. Ravikumar and Music Teacher Vidushi Dr. Suma Harinath were present.
