Two students suffer fractures as scooter rams school bus

Mysuru: Two students sustained fractures to their limbs after the scooter they were riding rammed into a school bus while they were reportedly making videos on their way to the top of Chamundi Hill from the Uttanahalli side.

The accident occurred close to the spot where a huge rock fell on the road atop Chamundi Hill at around 8 am yesterday. The injured students have been identified as Dhanush and Harsha. According to eyewitnesses, neither was wearing a helmet.

The duo was reportedly riding along with others on a bike and another scooter, making videos while on the move. Dhanush and Harsha lost control of their scooter while speeding and riding recklessly and crashed into the school bus, which was coming from the opposite direction and ferrying students down from the hilltop.

Both students reportedly suffered fractures to their limbs in the impact, while the scooter was badly damaged. Siddarthanagar Traffic Police, who reached the spot, seized the two vehicles involved in the accident and registered a case.

Dhanush and Harsha were admitted to a private hospital, where they were treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and kept under observation.

Meanwhile residents of Chamundi Hill said that youths speeding on two-wheelers while making videos had become increasingly common on the hill roads, they warned that such stunts not only put the riders’ lives at risk but also other commuters.

They urged the Police to step up patrolling on roads leading to the hilltop to prevent such accidents.
