Vidyaranyapuram jewellery shop dacoity case: Accused remanded to judicial custody

Mysore/Mysuru:  All the eight accused, who were involved in looting of gold ornaments from a jewellery store at Vidyaranyapuram and shooting dead a bystander here on Aug. 23 evening, have been remanded to judicial custody, said City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta.

He further said that on Aug. 23 evening, a gang of four dacoits, had barged into Amruth Gold and Silver Palace located on the 14th Main Road in Vidyaranyapuram, had looted gold ornaments and had also shot dead Chandru, a bystander before fleeing  from the spot.

Investigation had revealed that there were eight people involved in the crime out of which the Police were successful in arresting seven accused from other States, the Top Cop said and added that the Police had taken the accused into their custody for questioning and all the accused were produced before a Magistrate who has remanded them to judicial custody.

The mastermind of the crime is a Mysurean, who owns a jewellery shop at Mahadevapura and traded gold and silver has also been arrested and the City Police have stayed put in Mumbai to trace and arrest the ninth accused nicknamed as ‘Bombay Budda,’ who has gone absconding with a major portion of the loot.
