The District Administration, especially Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) deserves applause for excellent facilities made at Vijayanagar 4th Stage Crematorium (Muktidhama) in the city.
It is a neatly laid out facility for the benefit of Mysureans, who take mortal remains of their near and dear ones to perform last rites in peace. The facility so created by MUDA is now handed over to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) for maintenance.
As learnt, it’s given on contract to external agencies for running and maintenance of the facility. However, during a recent visit, it was noticed that the maintenance of the same needs a lot of attention. Especially, the cleanliness of bathrooms and water supply. There is no sufficient water supply due to lack of repairs of plumbing lines and absence of required house keeping staff. Why not such a good facility be maintained well so that the efforts behind the creation of it is given its credit?
The maintenance can be given to an NGO which can really serve better with commitment to society and cause.
