Violation of lane discipline: Traffic Cops must act

February 17, 2023

Sir,

Of late a new mode of traffic violation is being practised by two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Instead of following lane discipline at traffic signals, they move to the right hand side of the road medians, facing the incoming vehicles.

As soon as the traffic signal turns green, they are  in a tearing hurry to drive past the signal. Most of such vehicles will be moving towards the left hand side, cutting across the traffic following the signal to move towards the right hand side.

This is definitely a dangerous trend and whenever these incidents are captured by the cameras installed by the Traffic Police, these offenders should be penalised for multiple traffic violation offences.
