Violation of weekend curfew: 116 vehicles seized on Saturday, Sunday

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City Traffic Police, who conducted special drives during weekend curfew on Aug. 21 and 22 across the city have seized a total of 116 vehicles that were found moving on city roads unnecessarily.

On Aug. 21, the Police have seized 53 two-wheelers and five cars which were found violating the COVID guidelines and moving unnecessarily during the curfew. On Aug. 22, 56 two-wheelers and two cars have been seized for violating the guidelines.

City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta has urged the public to follow COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Government to prevent the spread of the deadly virus and co-operate with the Police.

Footpath encroachment drive

Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja and V.V. Puram Traffic Police, who conducted footpath encroachment clearance drives on Nrupatunga Road, Ashoka Road and Hinkal Main Road on Aug. 22, have booked two cases under Karnataka Police Act and three cases under Indian Motor Vehicle Act besides issuing five notices and collecting a total fine of Rs. 3,000 from the footpath encroachers.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and ACP (Traffic) S.E. Gangadharaswamy guided Inspectors and staff of all Traffic Police Stations in the footpath encroachment clearance drives.
