Mysuru: “Vipra community sub-sects should shed ego and stay united,” said MLA T.S. Srivatsa, here yesterday.
He was speaking at a felicitation function organised for newly elected members of Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha (AKBMS) and launch of membership drive by Brahmana Yuva Vedike at Krishnamurthypuram Sri Rama Mandira in the city.
“Brahmin community form a sizeable population in Mysuru region. However, they need to stay united by shedding their egos,” said Srivatsa.
While, there are about two lakh people belonging to Brahmin community in Mysuru merely 4,000 have become the members of Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha,” said Mahasabha State Vice President N.M. Naveen Kumar.
The membership drive was launched by distributing membership card for new members of AKBMS.
Newly elected AKBMS Vice Presidents N. Srikant Kumar, N.M. Naveen Kumar, Anil Kumar and Ravishankar were felicitated on the occasion.
Melukote’s Ilai Alvar Swamiji, K. Raghuram Vajpayee, Hoysala Karnataka Sangha President K.R. Satyanarayan, former Corporator M.D. Parthasarathy, M.R. Balakrishna, Mysuru Brahmana Yuva Vedike President H.N. Sridharamurthy, General Secretary Vikram Iyengar, Ajay Shastry and Rakesh Bhat were present.
