Mysuru: Former MP and senior Congress leader A.H. Vishwanath, who has rebelled against party leaders, including CM Siddharamaiah and KPCC President Dr. G. Parameshwara, held meeting with his followers to discuss about his next political move at Jaladarshini Guest House yesterday.
He expressed his views on joining JD(S) at the beginning of the meeting and also about keeping away from active politics. But the supporters urged him not to quit politics, following which Vishwanath sought suggestions on the invitation from JD(S).
Pointing out that in his four-decade-long political career, the Congress party had given him everything, Vishwanath regretted that the party leaders were now trying to sideline him and added that he had to quit politics or take a decision to join JD(S).
Expressing displeasure over CM Siddharamaiah, Vishwanath said: “when District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa was hospitalised, the CM visited him. The CM also met MLA Ambarish at his residence, inquiring about his well-being. But when I was undergoing treatment in a hospital at Coimbotore, the CM did not even telephone me.”
Meanwhile, Congress leaders tried to convince Vishwanath, asking him not to quit the party.
DCC President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, along with party workers, held a discussion with him at Jaladarshini Guest House. But the out come of the meeting was not known. Vishwanath, after holding meeting with his supporters at Jaladarshini Guest House, also had similar meetings at his son Amit Devarahatti’s residence in the city and at K.R. Nagar later in the day, sources said.
