Mysuru: Dr. Nanditha Ravi, renowned musician from Chennai and a torch-bearer of the T. Brinda – T. MuktaParampara, known for its purity and classicism, will be presenting a vocal concert at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar on Oct. 3.
Vidu.Nanditha will be accompanied by Vidu. AditiKrishnaprakash on violin, Vid. Mysore A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. V.S. Ramesh on morching.The concert, being held in memory of Vidu.Indira and Vid. T.P. Vaidyanathan at 6 pm, is open to all music-lovers.
Dr. Nanditha is the daughter and disciple of Vidu. Rama Ravi, renowned vocalist and musicologist from the legendary T. Brinda-T. Mukta School. She was also groomed by Bombay S. Ramachandran and later by SangeethaKalanidhi D.K. Pattammal. She holds an MCA and a Master’s Degree in Indian Music and has secured Doctorate for her research on ‘Sanskrit Compositions of the MuthuswamiDikshitarSishyaParampara.’
An A-Top artiste of Akashvani and Doordarshan, Chennai, she has served as a music faculty at the renowned Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai and is presently serving as a visiting faculty at the Advanced School of Music of The Madras Music Academy.
Dr. Nanditha founded the music school ‘SangeetaSikshaPeetam,’ where she trains students in line with the Paathantaram to which she belongs. She has won many accolades, including the Dr. M.S. SubbulakshmiSangeetaPracharya Award from ShriShanmukhananda Fine Arts &SangeethaSabha, Mumbai.
Vidu.Aditi, tutored by Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy and SangeethaKalanidhi R.K. Sriram Kumar, is an ‘A-grade’ artiste of AIR and has been accompanying front-line artistes for many years now.
Vid. Radhesh, a disciple of Vid. P.G. Lakshminarayana and Vid.MannargudiEswaran and Vid. Ramesh from the PGL School, are both well-established percussionists.
Vidu.Indira and Vid. T.P. Vaidyanathan, in whose memory the concert is being held, were both disciples of B.K. PadmanabhaRao of the Vasudevacharya School in city. The musician couple lived in Chennai for over four decades, serving the cause of music by imparting training to numerous youngsters and by conducting workshops, particularly on Mysuru composers.
