Mysore/Mysuru: Senior artiste Vidu. Rajini Hariharan will be presenting a Karnatak Vocal Concert at Sri Mysore Vasudevacharya’s house on Saturday (Nov. 12) at 4 pm.

She will be accompanied by Vidu. Divyashree on violin and Vid. M.R. Udaya Kumar on mridanga.

PROFILES

Vid. Rajini Hariharan started learning music from Shanmugavadivu, senior disciple of Musiri Subramania Iyer. She was in Delhi for a decade, during which time she was learning from veterans Radha Krishna and Vasantha Sundaram. Later, she  learnt under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. B. Rajam Iyer for more than two decades.

Presently under the guidance of Vudu. Seetha Narayanan, Rajini is well-versed with the nuances of music and has learnt a lot of rare songs of Muthuswamy Dikshidar from her Guru. She regularly gives performances in renowned Sabhas and also gives thematic concerts on TV Channels. She has travelled overseas widely for giving performances and conducting workshops and                                                  lecture-demonstrations.

She has been honoured with numerous awards including ‘Isai Kalaivani’ from the Lions Clubs International, Dist. 324 A1 and ‘Inspiring Musical Icon’ by Rotary Clubs International.

Rajini Hariharan is also a renowned teacher. Being a member of the Lions Clubs International, she has taken her music to teach children at Corporation Schools, Blind Associations and Old Age homes.

Vidu. Divyashree is a senior student of Vid. S. Mahadevappa and has learned from Dr. M. Manjunath also.

Vid. M.R. Udaya Kumar, son and disciple of Vid. M.R. Rajappa, is an established percussionist of city, having served in Police Band for many years.
